Hi there, I am Olivia
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in New York, United States.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually opened a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to United States wasn’t part of the long-range plan. Like many expatriate moves, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, fresh expectations. Daily tasks felt more cumbersome than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit our needs, met other families, and began constructing something that felt solid.
Why I Built Solar Field Nest
Most online content fell into either corporate relocation guidance or superficial tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to close that gap — practical advice grounded in real life in United States.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Hands-on insights from living in United States
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated only when a real change occurs
This site ISN'T:
- an official tourism authority resource
- a platform for sponsored reviews
- a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in United States continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in New York or anywhere in United States, feel free to reach out.
Best regards,
Olivia
